Bio

Leon Portelance, who also writes under the pen name, Edgar Ramsey, was born and raised in the small logging town of Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Leon received a Bachelor of Music degree in composition and theory from the University of Victoria, B.C. in 1976 and played in various rock/pop bands for the next ten years. In 1999, he moved to California and currently lives in Sonora, CA with his wife Debi and his two youngest children. He also has three grown children and two grandchildren still living in Canada.

Leon is an accomplished songwriter and composer, and recently completed tracks for "The Resolution," an independent movie filmed in the Chek Republic, in his well-equipped home recording studio.. Leon is also working on a new rock/pop album called, "Together Again" which will be released in 2008. Some cuts from the upcoming album can be heard on Leon's MySpace page, Leon & The Mad.

Leon's first novel, Slumach - The Lost Mine, published as Edgar Ramsey in 2004, took nearly twenty years to write. His second novel, Faith before Reason - The New America, took only a year and a half to write and the two sequels to this book: Call to Reason - The People's Army and Beyond Reason - The New Republic, are targeted to be published by the end of 2008.

While he dreams of someday composing and writing books full time, Leon currently works as a Construction Project Manager for CB Richard Ellis on the Washington Mutual account. His weekdays are spent supervising the building of new "Wamu's" thoughout northern California.
